New to us rustic '64 overlander!

Hello. After many years of dreaming of owning an airstream, I do!!! I am from australia and we do not have many airstreams - in fact I've never seen on there. My AS is very rugged and was totally bare of original fixtures and fittings when I bought it yesterday. We re-carpeted and cleaned and moved in the same day.

(My partner and I had been living in an '85 Ford van for 12mths up till this time so I am now proud to say I can stand up in my house! )

There have been many changes by PO and none of them good. Will be needing assistance form forum to try and remodel.

Welcome, TSG.

Well, "rustic" and "rugged" are not terms I usually associate with Airstreams, but, my new friend, if you are come up in the world and you are happy about this, hey, that's what owning an Airstream is SUPPOSED to be about.

Gee, it looks like you could POLISH her.

And can your van pull it? If so, you're just about set.

New '64

Hi I just purchased a 64 AS in Sturgis SD. It is in fair condition but I love it. It has many dents and badly replaced exterior panels and the original interior is completely gone! The PO has 'shingled' the interior with wood veneer which makes it ook rustic. My partner and I picked it up yesterday and recarpeted and cleaned then moved in! We are now deciding on a floor plan to return it to a self contained state. We have already, from another camper, a stove and a kitchen sink, some light fittings and well thats it for now!

Its cosy! Will be trawling the forum for ideas on renovating.

well im here in USA 6mths of year. My partner is in Wyoming with the airstream. I unfortunately have to go home to Melbourne, Australia on Sunday! So I have had 2 days and nights in the airstream and won't see her again till next summer!

But thats ok - gives me time to plan new layout and interior. In the meantime my partner is going to look into all that add on exterior sheeting that has been added and re-floor her. Lucky me!
