Sure, we would enjoy having you over again. Let me know when and I will have Adrienne cook up some Jumbalya before you come. The trailer is not going anywhere for awhile. My next big thing is to get it over to the trailer repair place by our house and have the running gear checked out. I still have to get under the belly pan and check out the dump valve.

You have a deal, brother. Better yet, try and make the Stone Mountain rally in April. That way many others can experience the new remodel AND Adrienne's jambalaya. Just a short trip for you guys.

It is a family members birthday that weekend. It won't happen this year. Maybe next. I am thinking the fall rally in the N. GA mountains. I have not taken any work off for three years and I plan on taking a couple of days in the fall.

Today we finished the Goucho and put down the plywood on top. I used the old as a template and made an exact copy. I have plywood cut for the other twin and it is in place. My wife is making exact copies of the old accordian doors. She has tape marking where the metal rods will go. The doors will be the same material as front of the goucho.

I made sure all the vents for the furnace were tight and secure. It was a bit nippy so I went out to the trailer and cranked up the furnace. It was quiet and worked like a dream. air flowed evenly through the trailer.

Thanks!! My wife really knows her stuff when it comes to making things using cloth and materials like Vinyl. One door to go and I am sure she will start on it today.

Thanks again. I had to go outside to check it out after work today. It looks like it is from the factory

I did not do much this weekend because I have a nasty cold I am fighting. I did get one thing done and that is a panel that fits under the stove which has installed switches for the water pump, hot water heater and a hidden light for the street side of the trailer.

I got the switches from Pecos in Stone Mountain. Mountain Industrial and Hwy 78. Great people to do business with. That is where I get most of my parts now.

Know them well. That's where I got the 35 year old replacement hardware to restore the TV antenna. REALLY good people to deal with. Lots of knowledge and parts there. Plus, I work down the street from them from time-to-time. Easy access. Thanks for the info.

Hi, I am going to be making replacement doors for 2-3 of our trailers, too. Does your wife use a heavy-duty sewing machine on the vinyl or a regular machine? What brand machine (if i may be personal enough to ask)? And does she use a heavy-duty/special needle or special thread?

Is the vinyl backed with anything, either from the factory or by her?

Can she give me any tips?

Feel free to move this posting if I am too off-topic. Thanks for any help!

She uses a brand new Brothers sewing machine. Her present from me last year. All I can tell you is she bought the vinyl from Joanne's and it seems to be marine vinyl that looks like leather. I will tell you that is heavier then the orginal. That might be from 52 years of drying out. The orginal got lighter with age.

As far as making it I will pass this message to her, because I am clueless when it comes to sewing. She did go out and buy a heavy duty needle and heavy duty thread.

She used all the orginal parts and she had to order very thin metal rods for the second one because the orginal one had those rods in it. Each pleet has a metal rod in it. I will find that information out for you when I get home tonight.

She took the orginal apart and constantly made measurements and wrote everything down.

Vivian:

It is a pretty heavy vinyl with a felt like backing. She used two pieces sewn together. We had to order 1/8" {A} Rd Cold Finished 1018-1/8 rd 1018 cold finished 6' long. My wife made two seams with 1" channel between, which she put the rods in. Each of the two inch seams were spaced 4 inches apart. In the 4 inch areas, she put a 3/1/2"wide and 72" long piece of clear plastic carpet protector. On the ends were:

the end that fastens to the wall with screws - a 6 foot long 1/4 inch by 3/4 inch piece of wood.

the end that latches with magnets to the wall - a 6 foot long curtain rod

Any questions, Send a private message to Adrienne
