Meet the Riveted Roost, a 1960 Overlander

Greetings fellow Overlander enthusiasts!

My husband and I are documenting the renovation of our 1960 Overlander (26-foot) in our blog, The Riveted Roost. It's a labor of love. Please check it out and feel free to share your comments and advice (or spare parts!). We're also on Facebook and Twitter @Riveted Roost.

We had a lovely introduction into the world of Airstreams last weekend at the Florida State Rally. We hope to have the Riveted Roost at AlumaFlamingo in 2014!

Thanks,
Kelly & Justin Beard

Justin & Kelley,

Welcome to the forums! And it was great to meet you at the Florida State Rally!

Justin--judging from the amount of rot you have found in the floor, it sounds like your trailer might be a good candidate for a shell-off restoration. A lot of work, but you end up with an all-new floor, and an opportunity to do any necessary work on the frame and under-floor wiring and plumbing while the shell and old floor are off. (If I were doing one, I would also epoxy-saturate the new floor with boat epoxy to greatly decrease the likelihood of the job having to be done again someday.) There are several threads on the forums dealing with the process.

Good luck with your project! Great blog, too.

Nice looking Overlander. You are already in pretty deep. Spend some time reading some of the floor replacement threads here and good luck.
