Looking at a '64 Overlander

I'm completely new to Airstream but I want a trailer to use on some property I own. There is a '64 Overlander for sale near my home and I would like to know what I need to know before purchasing one. I have not seen it. The owner says it is in 'good' condition, and that he still uses it. It is the model with the fold out couch (no table) and he claims it is roadworthy.

He is asking $4800 OBO.

What do I need to know before buying this trailer? Are there problem areas such as axles, wiring, leaks, plumbing, that I need to know about? Any help would be much appreciated.

George

Hi George,
You want to make sure all the appliances work, there are no gas leaks, no water leaks, just to to name a few. On www.vintageairstream.com there is a sort of buyers guide you can use to help you check it out and ask questions to the owner, and make sure he backs up what he say's as far as things working. As for price check out similar year/model Airstreams on rv trader www.traderonline.com Just ask if you have more questions. Good luck.

John
