Just got home with our new Baby

With our '72 Sovereign refurbishment all done, we needed a new project. Today we bought a 1958 Overlander, twin axle, today. Don't know if she's a boy or a girl. Drove 210 miles to get her. No dents, zolotone in near perfect condition, wired for 12v with a battery box mounted in the front. Inside is a little rough. She needs a new black tank, but all of the light fixtures are intact.

Great trailer,Mike.

I love that blonde wood inside! Do you know if it's original?

Kevin,
My Overlander has a dead bolt. It seems real secure. Do you think I need more "insurance"?

What a great trailer for restoration. Your new red truck looks real fine next to it. I also like the blond wood. I did not expect to see a large double door fridge. Is that stock? My compliments on your find.

Dan, thanks. No, the fridge is not original. The original one's are single door models with the rounded doors.

That is probably ok but for a little extra insurance, member FreshAir has a neat little gizmo he makes out of wood check it out.

I always lock and dead-bolt mine, and then tie the door handle off to the grab handle next to the jalousie window using a bungee cord.

That is one beautiful trailer, and the interior looks fantastic to me! I guess your definition of "rough" is more rigorous than mine...

Marcus,
"Rough" means there's nothing in the front of the trailer and the water tank is exposed and the bathroom has no toilet and the black tank is in plain sight.

Has anybody seen a Jalousie window in the front like mine? I've never seen this before. I kind of like it, but Inland Andy says they leak. Hmmmmm.

Ha! Well, I didn't see all of THOSE pictures. The bedroom looks nice anyway...

I've never seen one before but I think it looks very cool. I wouldn't worry too much about it leaking. If it leaks through the rock guard and the window while driving, you can always clean it up and dry it out. And it shouldn't leak too badly when stationary, which it will spend MUCH more time at than it will driving.

I'd just tune it all up, seal it the best you can, make sure the rock guard fits tight, and drape something protective over whatever furniture you eventually put up front, any time time you plan on towing in the rain. I think you'll be fine, if you WANT to keep that jalousie up front.

Which I would, because I think it's cool.

It's a great looking trailer Mello Mike! I really like the volume of windows, and the wheel wells.
