We have had great weather over the Thanksgiving holiday, nothing really done on my trailer but we did get Roberts '63 Globetrotters frame flipped and back onto its wheels. Maybe next weekend we might get the shell back on the frame. I have some spare time since I'm not rebuilding my trailer.

Maybe I should report myself as posting off-topic?
I did make another upgrade. The original power cord slips back under a cool vintage cover, but a later 30 amp plug doesn't fit under the lid. No big deal except when the cord spools out when driving. A car pulled along side with a note in the window "CORD IS DRAGGING". Add to that the time I grabbed the cord and a mouse jumped out from inside the housing.

I machined an old plumbing connector as a spacer and inserted a modern RV disconnect into the vintage cover.

Then I helped Robert land the shell on his Globetrotter.

How fortunate the previous owner had that spare connector sitting in the parts box that came with the trailer

The new connector looks like an amazingly good fit. Did you have to chop it down any to get it in there?

I did have to take about .040 off the diameter of the new connector. Since I already had the sleeve in the lathe I was able to stuff in the outlet and turn it down.

Today we dropped the shell all the way down on Roberts trailer. He received an order from VTS and it included some parts for my gas lamp and before I knew it, I had it all installed in my trailer. Not a rebuild, just accessorizing.

You & Robert got the shell on just in time for the cold weather this week!
It's time to put the portable heater in the Globetrotter & have some interior fun!

BTW, that's a very cool accessory!!

It sure enough turned winter! I awoke to many inches of snow, luckily the covered roads were just slush because I already had the camper hooked up for today's trip. Even though I'm not rebuilding this trailer, after 65 miles of slush I will be washing this trailer.

Interesting picture. It looks like you have power from the transformer behind the trailer hooked up to your antenna. Would that be a "Power Boost Antenna"

I get really good TV coverage...

It seems that a big mistake made by me offered up a huge chance for my fellow forums members to absolutely roast me. The new power inlet has the male and female connections reversed!!! I dunno what I was thinking but I ordered the wrong parts and of course the cord end has hot exposed terminals! (Blush) I was showing the 'upgrade' to a friend, unplugged the cord and immediately saw my mistake.

I guess someone has to set a bad example, this was my turn.

Just re-wire the other end of the cable and move on ....life it to short to sweat the tiny stuff ....

All the way xtra battery capacity with no voltage monitor is weird so I added an elcheapo monitor. $20 with a current shunt. It only measures energy used from the batteries (doesn't measure current from the converter going back into them) but will be handy when boondocking.

And while I was messing with 'lectricty, I dissembled the shore power mess I made a few weeks back and I got lucky. The inserts of the male and female connections were interchangeable. No more hot exposed terminals.

I did some research on the tail lights, I've never seen these so they must be super rare. It turns out they are school bus lights. Bummer.
I got some hand-me-down Bargmen cans and some leftover lenses. Easy swap. Not rebuilding, just swapping out parts. Luckily the Airstream wiring is color coded.
Left turn = red wire
Right turn = red wire
Tail lights = red wire

Now if it would get above 45 degrees I could break out the Trempro and seal them.
