CAD Curious

Just wondering if anyone has entered the interior of an early 60's Overlander into CAD? I'm mostly after the shell information but if there was cabinet/ appliance detail too that would be a bonus. I realize it's unlikely but thought I'd ask.

If nobody has this it'll be one of my first tasks when I pick up my trailer.

Cad???

Did you ever get around to making those CAD drawings? I am just getting started on a 64 Overlander and drawings could be handy.

Howdy, I don't know if you have seen the work I've done with the SketchUp program. I would be willing to give some instruction here on that program. I'm all ready helping one person on the forums with his designing. I've even thought of starting a instructional thread on SketchUP. Would you be interested? If you click on my SketchUp Blog listed below you can find some Airstream work amongst other work to see what you think.

I have seen some of your digital work Don and I thought it was very high quality. Any help in this area would as always be greatly appreciated. I have some Architrion, Autocad, and ordinary paper drafting professional experience, all architectural.

The program is Google SketchUp. You can download a free version on Google. IF you want to get started? Let me know. A PM is often the best way to get quick attention.

Yes, I've worked with cad, drafting, Maya, And several other programs. SketchUp is the quickest learning curve of any program I've used. And there tons of tutorials on line as well as youtube. I'm going to start a thread on SketchUp use. So maybe others can join in and share learning, designs, problems.

You wouldn't happen to have have a rough out of a 64 overlander or similer Airstream would you?

I''ve make a drawing of our 63 Bambi. The end caps are the same on all of the 60 trailer I believe. The end caps are the hardest part to create. The best way to create an Airstream design is make separate end caps.
I'll try and put some explanation of how to find end caps and etc. on the thread that I start.

What would really be awesome is if this site had some basic layouts stored for everybody to use for modification.

This is quite possible. Google has a site called "The 3d Warehouse" We would use this site for that purpose. There just about everything one can imagine on that site that can be downloaded to help in the designing of a trailer, house, car, you name it. We would create a new section for the designing of Airstream Trailers.

Hello all,

I'm brand new to the forum and brand new to Airstreaming (just acquired a '73 Sovereign).

I create architectural renderings with Sketchup and Cinema 4D and I like what you guys are cooking up!

It would be great to have an area on the forum to store CAD/PDF floor plans, Sketchup models (complete models as well as end-caps, middle sections and other bits and pieces).
Sounds like the makings of an awesome library for anyone doing anything creative with Airstream design...

I'm in!
