Wheel wells are off and the rear axle has been removed. Not much else to take apart so it must be time to start reassembly

Goodies arrived...
First was the stuff from Airparts...3 x 4 sheet of .032 3003 to start fabbing new C Channel...and some 5/32 cleco's...my 1/8 clecos won't hold in the old holes so it's kinda tough hanging the old corner c channels in place...($40 of stuff, $22 in shipping )
I also managed to make it to the local steel supplier for a 20' chunk of 2 x 4 x .125 tube stock...my replacement crossmembers are now ready...($84)
UPS stopped today and dropped of a gallon of Eastwood rust stuff...($130?)
Of course it's supposed to rain all weekend...

I've used POR15 and like everything BUT the price...figured I'd try this...it's a bit cheaper if I recall.

Today the weather was cruddy so no work was done on the frame...I did slice up $29 worth of .032 into blanks for new C channel.
I should get it bent up one day next week.

We were supposed to do other stuff today but it was still wet and messy...perfect day to cut and weld...
As can be seen in the first photo...stuff wasn't lined up too well when Dolly was built...
A small grinder removes cross members in no-time at all. 4 removed, one relocated, 3 new ones installed...
The hole in the frame has been buggin' me...this is where the gray drain exited...I ain't doing it like that!
I also added some additional pieces of angle outriggers to support the floor under the toilet and the tub.
One of the cross members was moved forward to make room for a gray tank...
Time for rust stuff?

bent up. I love it.
I've been lurking and following your thread. If I ever finish mine I want to start looking for a 61 Sovereign to do. My dream is to do a 61 and have a 61 Lincoln convertible as a TV. That way the TV & A/S will be as old as I am. We can all creak and groan together into old age.

"Sea", that was easy!
Actually...it only took :15 to recreate the rear curved "C" channel...
I re-assembled the pieces of the old channel and traced it on a board...
snipped the 1/2 "C" (angle) .032 on a 2" pattern...
Bowed it...then snipped the second piece of angle so the slits lined up...
riveted from the bottom...
and checked to see if it matched...!

We are on the same exact same 'schedule'...I am a year older than the actual build date of the '63...I out creak it!

80 degrees today so I'm supposed to clean out the swimming pool...oops...I forgot
Time to flip the frame and get it ready for rust encapsulator.
An engine hoist on the bumper and the tractor on the hitch...Over she goes!

Guess how much this frame flexes?
It's a 4" tall "C" channel version.
Here is the setup...rear axle removed so it almost ballances...very little tongue weight...that equates to maximum front and rear 'droop'...
slowly lifting the back end and supporting the tongue...
the bumper travels 5.25" before the axle clears the ground...remember, my axle is frozen solid...
I double checked the stuff with a lazer level and yup...5"+ of frame flop with no weight except the bare frame!

Paint! well, rust encapsulator...
I decided to weld on the gray tank supports even though it hasn't arrived yet. I also decided to drop the remaining axle so I could get everything painted. It does work pretty good when the frame can be rotated...
I used 1/2 gallon of Eastwood Rust Encapsulator...a few spots will need a second coat...
Everyone has heard of the blond haired beauty named Goldilocks...what about a grumpy old dude that spends way too much time messing with Airstreams...Alumalocks?

Some progress...I keep thinkin I'll be able to leave work at a reasonable time in the evenings and actually get some work done in the evenings....so far that hasn't turned out too good.
I did buy the plywood for the floor, still need to order the bolts and epoxy. I have decided to use regular ply and epoxy coat everything.
It looks good for salvaging 2 of the 4 corner jacks...the other two are going to be a challenge...POR15 to the rescue!
