Thanks Hiho,

You know I think we started at the same time, here you are finishing and I'm just starting

The is basic layout is staying the same but I'm planning on switching out the oak for birch and adding in a few curves, more 50's than 60's. Thanks for the heads up on the curvature, I'm planning on scribing as I go!

Now if the weather would just cooperate!

You just live in the wrong place for good winter weather. It was sunny and a beautiful 75 degrees here today.

Sigh, it's 18 here this morning and we are expecting another foot of snow on Friday, at least I won't have to shovel out Moonrakers parking spot!

Slowmover,
Well for sure I'm going to be going slower from here on! The plan is as soon as it's warm enough, to polish her, seal her up, do fantastic fans, a maxxim skylight (instead of astrodome), replace all the lights (retrofitting LEDS all the way)and redo all the windows.

Once she's all sealed up and I'm sure there are no leaks, I''ll start insulation with prodex and electical. My plan is to have an aluminum tent with lights and battery power by August.
Thanks, again. I see now the "luxury" of using a shop for some work, and other work by the owner. August will be here quickly!

Cant tell you how much i appreciate all the pics Collin put out there for all of us to follow along. I do have a question for you tho. I saw he put grey tanks, but no black? How will that work, or will you put that on top of the floor inside. I also saw no place for water lines from one side to the other of the trailer under the floor? I am working on a 57 overlander, and i have recently removed shell and have sandblasted frame. Getting ready to start welding and tank placement. Just wondering?

Thank you again, Brent

No need for black tank as we are putting in a Natures Head composting toilet.

Nature's Head Composting Toilets - The environmentally sustainable waterless toilet for Your Boat, RV, Cabin, Big Rig, Barn, Workshop, or Yurt!

I honestly would do just about anything to avoid having to empty a black tank! My Overlander originally had one that was above the floor.

As to water lines, they all will be above the floor including the fresh water tank. Living in the Northeast it makes more sense due to possibility of freezing. My water tank is beneath the street side twin bed. Lines will run up to the kitchen and back to the tub/ bathroom , no need to cross coach?

I know in warmer climates people are putting their fresh water tanks beneath the floor. I can't stomach using a tank that I can't physically see and clean out. I'm also putting a kayak seal fitting on my tank so I can scrub it out periodically. see this thread.

Good luck with your 57!

Cool

Shelly,

It has to feel good to have MoonRaker safe and sound in the backyard. Looks like you are in the bullseye for the blizzard.

Good luck! I assume we don't have to ask for a pic of 2+ feet of snow on top if it happens.

Weather isn't great here in Sanibel. It's going to be 80, but it's a little humid for my taste.

Now that weather just sucks now doesn't it
We're getting hit hard here too. Shelly, make sure you exercise the roof rake! Without interior skins & bulkheads, the roof can cave in due to snow load. One of my clients had this happen to him after extensive chassis & floor work. He managed to push it out pretty well, but the reminder is there everytime he looks at the trailer.

Hi Shelly

Glad to see the MOONr a k e r has returned. I think Airstreams make great lawn ornaments.
I have my foam snow rake with extendable pole at the ready. Still need a ladder!
At least we do not have to worry about mold and fire ants in the northeast!

When the weather channel started talking about a possibility of three feet I decided I needed a little extra insurance! We will still have to shovel the roof but this should help. My fingers however are frozen

Can you run an electric heater in the trailer? Without skins inside, I would think the exterior would be warm enough to melt the snow with a heater running (unless its coming down in droves?) Something about a big snowstorm is exciting, but not if you're stressing about cave-ins!

With my luck I'd burn it down. I wish I had a heater but no such luck, I was just thinking of getting one to get a jump on working on Moonraker this Spring....... Spring seems very far away

She's still standing yeah, yeah, yeah!

TubeChop - Elton John - I'm Still Standing (00:23)

We made it thru, at least 2 feet of snow, its difficult to tell due to the wind, our back deck had close to 4 feet as it blew off the roof.

The wind actually did us a favor and kept most of the snow off the airstream.

This morning, good thing I ordered the axles with the higher angle!
