As a side note, Colin has typically used Reflectix in the past. I wanted him to use Prodex and supplied it
( I've yet to hear if one is easier to work with than the other!)
The third picture is the axle modification.
Prodex installed & fiberglass insulation installation in progress.
Axle mounting plates modified to suit mounting bracket & 1/4” lift required due to grey tank installation
Colin commented: Axle brackets are not available that suit the original bolt pattern, so some drilling would be necessary, however on this trailer, one of the axles lined up with a crossmember & as the axle tube is "pre cambered", the arc of the axle interfered with the crossmember, so Airstream just cut the lower flange off the crossmember. We added an angle iron to reinforce the crossmember to help support the grey tank. The axles then needed a 1/4" shim added to them so the arc wouldn't hit the new angle iron on the crossmember. This is why we needed to add material to the mounting plates.
Final grey tank installation.
Lower fridge vent intake.
Prodex encompassing grey tanks.

Thats really cool. There are some interesting differences between your OH trailer and my CA. I already had the extra strap in the step area to support the ply joint. My axle was NOT over the crossmember...ALSO my fridge doesn't vent thru the floor.
Thanks for all of the photos

Hey HiHo!
Yeah there are lots of differences, I guess 1964 was the first year that they pushed standardization. I have a completely different roof antenna and our main door within a door hinges are different too. As I remember you have straps, I just have regular hinges.
I originally did not have a vent thru the floor, Colin said the newer propane units work better that way so it was something that was added.
Looks to me you're ready to enjoy and I'm just getting started! Lol. Didn't you start after me?

The pictures are awesome. You and Colin are really helping me by posting your progress - this way I can take my iPad in with me to the supply guys and say "See? THIS thing?" I went to school across the lake from Plattsburgh...wish I could get my trailer up there but the forums will have to suffice.

Thanks KCN,
That was the whole point of doing this! I'm a very visual person and for example, it's one thing to talk about how/where gray tanks go in, its another to be able to actually visualize it.
I am very grateful to Colin for allowing/encouraging me to post these pictures. I'm guessing that by doing so he is helping more than a few people like you, who may not have the time/money/access to a professional restorer.

Bellypan side with fridge vent intake. The final wheel well trim will be done after the body is re-installed.

Well, it was sweet while it lasted! Talked to Colin today and they had a heck of a time getting the shell on, and it's not there yet. Turns out that Moonraker originally had been put on cockeyed (last trailer in the line on a Friday afternoon? )
In order for her to be straight and true they had to trim the bottom edge of the shell on the curbside up to 3/4 of an inch! Which of course means redrilling for all the rivets on the c channel. I think they even had to cut the wheel well cutout .... Of course this is the side that was NOT being replaced. The other side is getting the big long panel replaced due to a wheel blowout. Figures huh?
I remember seeing some ribs that were jury rigged when we stripped the interior, guess I know what that was about now! . Of course this means that the bulkheads and interior skins are going to be shorter too. Ah well.
More pictures tonight I hope!
Thanks all!
