35 new pictures posted of 58 Traveler restoration

Hi Airstreamers

Here's the latest in the mad saga. We are going to be taking the trailer to Nevada next Tuesday for the Burning Man event, and so it has been full on to get it ready to go!

http://www.airstreamphotos.com/photo...er=155&thumb=1

It is nearly nearly ready. The pictures up today go from the patching of holes in the skins, the fixing of the door andb to the spraying of the inside with white primer.

I have actually now painted the inside with the first 2 coats of enamel, the color is lush deep red! It looks simply awesome. I ran out of batteries on my camera and used a borrowed one which I dont have here. I'll post those pics later.

Next to do is the electrical for lights and sound. Still not sure if I will use 2 deep cycle batteries and an inverter or splash out and get another gennie (Honda 2000 would be the choice here) straight away.

Many thanks for the letters of encouragement from people. It really is great to know there is this extended family of similar nutcases!

Cheers

Will

Oh here's a pic

She's primed. This is the first coat of 3. I used 2 gallons of XIM metal primer for this.

Forget the trailer I want to see the Burning Man pictures.

I propose a Airstream rally at next years Burning Man event. That would be a nice contrast.

Question How Wide is your Door Opening

Hi Williamhenshall

I am sid white. I use a wheelchair and was forced to widen my 70 sovereign entrance door in order to get in. Your entrance door looks wider in your photo. When you have time please check it for me. I may be able to find a salvage unit if it is wider.
Thanks,
Sid

door width

Heya Sid,

The door is less than 26" on this trailer, a trick of the wide angle lens I'm afraid.....

Best

Will

That red is fabulous, inspirational even. I'm going to go look at my trailer and think about it. You've seen Dave and Karla's site where they covered the whole thing in copper foil, right?

I like it....but I tend to be drawn to the strange and unusual. Have you thought about doing something Faux on top of this?

More pictures posted of 58 Traveler restore story, off to the Black Rock Desert

http://www.airstreamphotos.com/photo...ort=1&user=155

Hi folk, thought you might be interested in seeing what happened over the past couple of weeks. We got her finished enough to be able to take up to the Burning Man event in Nevada. Pictures linked above.

I have a few more detailed ones of the final stages that I will try and get together too over the next week of two.

Best to all

Will
