Airstreams at DeAnza Rally
April 7-10, 2016
DeAnza RV Resort, Amado, AZ

Airstreams at DeAnza Rally will be held at the DeAnza RV Resort in Amado, Arizona … attendees arriving Thursday, April 7th and departing Sunday, April 10th.

The DeAnza RV Resort is on the site of a 1963 Greyhound Race Track that was transformed to an RV park. It has a 38,000 sq foot clubhouse with a heated swimming pool, hot tub, billiard room, shuffleboard, bar and restaurant, exercise room and fire pit. Visit the DeAnza RV Resort website for a full description, map and directions to the Resort … it’s 2 miles south of Exit 48 to Arivaca Rd off southbound I-19 … or 2 miles north of Exit 42 to Aqua Linda Rd off northbound I-19 … on the east frontage road.

We have 25 sites reserved for 4CU attendees. Based on a minimum of 20 rigs, DeAnza is offering us a 20% discount off the regular April rate for a total of $30.99 per night including tax, with full hookups. Please call DeAnza directly at 1-520-398-8628 or toll-free at 1-888-398-8628 to make your reservations. Be sure to mention that you are with the Airstream Rally. A credit card number will be required when you reserve, but nothing will be charged until check-in. Attendees may stay up to 2 extra days at the special rally rate … before or after the rally … 1 day at either end. (Cancelations 48-hours prior to reservation with no charge. See “Rates & Reservations” page of the website for additional info.)

If your rig is in the shop or otherwise unavailable for the rally, there are Park Models in which you may stay. The daily rate is $85+tax for 2 people. They have a queen bed. You must provide your own bed linens and towels. All else is furnished. No pets are allowed in the Park Models.

Rally fee $15 per rig. Please complete the rally registration form below and send it along with your rally fee, made payable to Ruth or Harry Vollmer by March 20th. No refunds of rally fees can be made after April 1, 2016.

We will be using the "Rally Room" for our morning coffee and goodies, happy hours and potluck dinner. There is no kitchen available. Please do not take liquor into other areas of the clubhouse.

DeAnza is dog friendly and has a fenced dog park. As always, pick up your doggie poop (contrary to rumor, there is no Poop Fairy who follows you around with a bag) and deposit into trash bins. Pets are not allowed in the buildings and must be kept on a leash. DeAnza also has a "dog wash" area for your enjoyment. Hmmm…a dog wash fund raiser??

A fire pit is available for our use, so please bring firewood!

For those of you that enjoy golf, Tubac has a great course. Please mark your registration form if you would like to play golf with others on Friday.

A water volleyball game will be scheduled on Saturday. Please indicate on the registration form if you are interested in this Olympic event!

There will be "free time" on Friday and Saturday for you to enjoy the area: Titan Missile Museum, the nearby towns of Green Valley and Tubac, Tumacáori National Historic Park, Madera Canyon, bicycling and hiking opportunities, Wisdom's Cafe, Cow Palace Restaurant and of course, Tucson to the north and Nogales, Mexico (passports required) to the south.

On Friday night "Retro Rockets" band will be playing from 6:30 – 9:00 pm. A cash bar will be available. Their music is retro, 50's, 60's and 70's with a mix of country. Dress in your decade; example: poodle skirts, bobbie socks, beach boys, tie-dyed shirts, flip flops or cowboy boots, hippie wear, rolled up jeans and a white t-shirt, madras shirts and halter tops (?). Dance, Dance, dance! (The dance is open to the entire park and general public.)

DeAnZa’s Greyhound Restaurant open from 4:30 -7:30 pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Open for breakfast Saturday and Sunday. (Hours subject to change. Please confirm on arrival.) Please indicate on your registration form if you will be dining in the restaurant on Friday so that management will have an idea of the number of extra guests for dinner. Dinners are in the $12 - $15 range.

This is a WBCCI Rally, but if you have a non-WBCCI Airstream friend who would like to attend the rally as a potential 4CU member, they are welcome to join in the fun. Just contact the hosts to arrange that!

Special Note: As an added option, the New Mexico Unit is holding a Glow in the Dark Rally the weekend before the 4CU DeAnza Rally … Mar 31 – Apr 3, 2016, at Valley of Fires BLM Campground near Carrizozo, NM.[/URL] The rally coincides with the only day of the year that the Trinity Site — where the first detonation of a nuclear weapon, conducted by the United States Army on July 16, 1945, as part of the Manhattan Project — is open to the public. Also see this link about Trinity. If you are interested in attending the NM Unit’s Glow in the Dark Rally and caravanning to the Airstreams at DeAnza Rally with an overnight stop along the way, please contact Tom & Barb Stallings, the rally hosts at casacornice@hotmail.com. They can provide you with the information to register for that rally and a potential caravan to DeAnza.
