Anniversary Weekend in Ventura - Emma Wood State Park

Posted 07-14-2010 at 01:16 PM by wilkes711

Took off Thursday morning for Ventura - easy drive. Imagine our surprise when we found another Airstream parked right behind us. Nice Arizona couple with their grandson visiting CA for the month of July. Loved the location of Emma Wood - easy walk or bike ride to town, ocean lulled us to sleep every night. Enjoyed nearby Summerland, Carpinteria, the farmer's market on Saturday morning in town. Visited the mission - saw another wedding. Perfect low-key, relaxing anniversary get away. We'd come back again.

Did you have reservations or did you get lucky and find an empty spot? I thought there was a 2 week max stay?

We had reservations, made them in May - and only stayed 3 nights. We did talk to others who were there for 2 weeks and extended - you can go to ranger on morning your reservation is finished and see if there are openings, though. Just report to him around 8 am and he will let you know if you are lucky.
