Lots of progress.

I've been doing a lot of work but haven't posted much to my blog lately. Some recent progress:
Patched hole from former kitchen vent.

Removed old leaky plastic tail lights and patched holes with aluminum. Still need to buck in rivets but pop rivets are good enough for short term.

I'm planning on ordering round LED lights which I like better anyway and would cost less than converting the old lights to LED.
Found some major leaks in the ceiling in a rain storm due to large rivet spacing in main ribs. I asked a question about this in the forums and resolved the issue as described here.

You can see the gaps between the ribs and the rivets in this picture. I drilled the hole and then sucked it in with a new bucked rivet.

Patched hole in front from former water fill. It was badly broken.

Removed wheel well covers. Had to scrape off interminable amounts of the white gooey sealant, but finally got enough off to get to the screws to remove them. I'm going to have to fab some new ones

Removed rear bellypan that was under the grey tank in the rear. Pretty badly corroded and had several holes. Will probably need to replace entire thing

Removed what was left of the bumper box- what I like to call the root of all evil! This thing funneled water into the rear end like a funnel. This is why the rear floor is ruined and the rear crossmember is totally rusty. I'm going to have to replace the crossmember and add a flashing to divert water away from the wood floor. What a concept!

I removed the lower belt line all around the trailer. It is really simple to remove by just drilling out about 20 pop rivets. This is a pic of how the banana wraps connect to the outer skin.

I then drilled the pop rivets that attach the banana wraps. In the corners I had to drill out all the rivets, but on the sides I just drilled out the top ones and let them hang down while still attached to the main frame underneath.

I then donned a hazmat suit and started digging out the nastiness which couldn't have been insulating very well. Fortunately, it was mostly insulation, rocks, and dirt with limited sign of animal activity.
It filled up 1/3 of my big garbage can.

Next comes removing the floor. I'm going to remove the whole thing and start over from scratch. Sometimes I think it would be easier to build a brand new trailer than to renovate this one.
