We picked her up on 8-21-12 (3 days ago) and I'm not gonna lie. It feels like we've had her for a couple of weeks. Probably because I'm freaking out. There is SO much that's wrong with her. Last night I stood in the toasty trailer (toasty because the shop vac put out a lotta heat while I was vacuuming the mice excrement that blankets every nook, cranny and corner. Hubs pulled out the cookware from the oven (we aren't sure if the oven works yet) and the pots and pans were nested in the downy fluff of the insulation nests the rodents had carefully configured. Yeah, they crap where they eat and sleep. The morning after we got her here, hubs was messing with the back bumper and a mouse that had been perfectly sliced in half fell out. UGH! But I digress. I'm freaking out because when hubs climbed under "Velma," to remove the expanding foam insulation that a PO had covered the stairs in, he found a ton of rust and issue with the underside. He started talking about taking the shell off (I'm envisioning this frightening playout of a crane lifting the aluminum shell - revealing the rotten plywood (with mouse poo) and a heck of a lot of expensive problems. But I love her. And after looking at a NEW A/S at Camper Clinic 2 and seeing that similar ones with similar upgrades go for 100K, all I can say is... well, nothing. I just kinda want to go crawl in bed and kick the A/C down to 65 - hibernate for a bit until it's all figured out. Good advice came yesterday - blessings of people on this board. I can't believe I didn't find you sooner...
I am to bring a composition book while cleaning, listing all broken items. After Velma is clean, I am to sit down and relist in chronological order which items will be repaired first. This is supposed to help extinguish this frightful feeling and I kid you not, this advice WILL go into practice TODAY!
I wish I knew someone local with A/S love experience that would come out and hold my hand - just for a while.
But knowing me, this fright will go away as I'm gliding my fingers across new formica and my wanderlust will be re-invigorated.
