DAY 14 - Tue Aug 10
Cool, rainy morning after raining all night. We discovered a small leak in the skydome of the trailer. We had coffee and were away by 8:30AM. Our friends weren't home, they were actually in Vancouver when we stopped to see them. We knew that, but we wanted to see their place anyway. We had quite the ride from their place outside Nelson, heading west. We went up and down the mountains in the rain, 'through the clouds' and finally made it to Grand Forks for gas by 10:30AM. It finally stopped raining, but it was still cool.
We arrived at Osoyoos about noon, and it was bright and sunny and warm. Nice reward after the crazy ride.
It was a beautiful ride through the valley, and we stopped for fruit, of course.
We made it to Chilliwack by 4:45PM for gas after leaving the Okanagan valley and another crazy ride through the mountains. At least it wasn't raining any more.
We found our way to Hazelmere RV Park in Surrey BC at 6:30PM. The people there are very nice, and we were a day early. They got us into a spot for 3 nights, and will store our trailer for us when we go to Vancouver Island on Friday.
My hubby's old high school friend and his girlfriend came by our camp with locally famous burgers for us. Yum!

DAY 15 - Wed Aug 11 2010
We got a text this morning from our daughter, and a phone call later from our son today. Today is a special day to our family and it was wonderful to hear from our kids today.
We awoke to a beautiful, warm morning and our friend came by and took us on a tour of White Rock BC. Our other friends from Nelson called, and so we had to cut our tour short to meet them at out trailer. We had a very nice visit with everyone. Our friends from Nelson had to head back to his sister's place in Vancouver and so they left. Our other friend from Surrey went to pick his girlfriend up and they came back and we all went out to dinner. We went to the Roadhouse Cafe in White Rock. This restaurant's tables are all vintage 1950's arborite tables, chrome and all. There are many assorted vintage chairs, too. I have never seen that many tables of that era together at one time. We at a table that reminded me of the one at home in my kitchen -- yellow. The food was good, too. We got back to the trailer and bed.

DAY 16 - Thu Aug 12 2010
Cool, sunny morning and after coffee, we went out to do a little shopping and find our way around White Rock. Our friends came by the trailer for dinner -- pork roast and teryaki beef, baked potato and corn on the cob -- all cooked in the trailer and all very good. We sat around chatting and drinking wine til way after dark.

DAY 17 - Fri Aug 13 2010
Yes, it's Friday the 13th today, and yes we're getting on the ferry to Vancouver Island anyway.
A warm, sunny morning and after doing up the laundry and putting the trailer in storage for a week, we headed to Tsawwassen to catch the ferry to Nanaimo. We arrived at the ferry at noon, and were told that we would have to wait until 3PM or so for the next available ferry, and then we might not even get on that one. We decided to change our destination to Victoria, and then we would be on the ferry in an hour or so. The ferry ride was beautiful, but the drive to get north of Victoria was crazy with traffic. We were barely moving, inching along for about an hour or so just to get outside Victoria. We finally made it to Parksville to hubby's brother's place, about 7PM. They had dinner for us, and showed us our accommodations. We're staying in their trailer in their yard. It is very nice and they even had a 'stay out' sign on the door.
