The Maiden Voyage

Posted 05-11-2020 at 12:22 PM by Dasponto

Well it happened! Private campsites were allowed to open back up here in Alberta. Thank goodness! Would be terrible to not be able to get our brand new Tin Palace out the year we buy it.

It was a shorter trip, 250km trek to the Upper Shunda Creek Campsite just outside of Nordegg and there was of course the first trip hiccups... like the local fill stations waterline being frozen, but we improvised and managed.

With the added Andersen weight distribution hitch I was extremely pleased with how well our Q5 towed the trailer, we averaged 13.9L/100km - 17mpg for our friends south of the border) there and back. Was even better on the flats and that was still with winter tires on.

The small space is very efficient for my wife, me and our two golden retrievers. Bed only took about 5 minutes to set up/take down and the Truma heater kicked out some serious heat when the weather dropped down to -2C.

So short post for now, but here's some photos to enjoy!
