First trip: Hells Gate State Park, Idaho

Posted 03-28-2011 at 06:01 PM by idmtman

We finally got out in Sylvia last week at Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston, Idaho. This was the first trip after bringing her home. Nice park with good facilities, though a little cool this time of year.

Found a couple of minor leaks, one in the skylight which will be replaced, and one which we kind of knew about, in the rear storage compartment. After visiting with the AS dealer in Spokane, I did some caulking but am awaiting better weather before taking on a more major caulking behind the trim above the bumper storage area. This area only leaks when we drive in the rain, but I think it will be worth doing both sealing jobs before we head cross country in about five weeks.

Had one other issue with the black water tank. The PO had not dumped the tank before he winterized it which we discovered after setting up camp and turning on the monitor panel so we dumped the next day and one other time and everything seems to be okay (we're keeping our fingers crossed).

I saw the pictures and thought of Chief Timothy SP which is close by. I was there last summer and drove down Hwy 129 to Joseph. What an exciting drive pulling an Airstream.

That is quite a pull with a trailer. Beautiful country.
