Credenza Rebuild part 14
At this point the credenza rebuild is over 95% complete.
I still need to trim out where the floor finishes meet the base. There may be a single cabinet door installed below the pull-out shelf, walnut frame with tambour inset panel, but having lived with a stuck tambour door there for years, we are used to having that open all the time so it might be left as is.
For those who want some numbers here is the score: Total cost of materials was around $180. This price does not include the stereo or any special tooling purchased for the job. It also doesn't include the price of the plastic edge molding. I bought that years ago, told you I had procrastinated in part 1, and I don't remember the price. Recycling parts from the old credenza and digging into my scrap wood and masonite supply helped a lot.
A rough estimate of weight difference is that the new refurbished credenza weighs 24.369 pounds more.
As for time spent it was about fifty hours. Thats two weeks of spare time for me, and amazingly it was as long as I thought the job would take.
I'm pleased with the results, but that was a lot of work.
