How to get up on the center of the roof

Does anyone know how to get up onto the roof? Can it support any weight? Want to polish the entire roof but can only get up part way and am unsure if the roof can support my weight and how do I get on?

The roof will support the weight. I polished our 31', replaced the TV antena and removed/renovated and replaced the AC cover last year. I only weight 120lbs but on the forums, they mention up to 250lbs it will support.
If you have access to scaffolding, that is the easiest way to polish. We didn't so we put a cotton cloth around a ladder where it would lean against the awning rod (closed). Then using sneakers (check to make sure nothing is on the sole that will scratch), stay on the rivet lines. That is where the structure is sound since they attach to the framing. Also, do not walk past the rivet line that connects the endcaps to the shell. The endcaps will buckle in. I have also heard of some people taking a piece of plywood long enough to go over 2 seams, put a cloth underneath and used that for more support.
It does get slippery up there as you wash the residue off and in conjuction with the curved sides.
Good luck.Posted 02-27-2011 at 02:08 PM by Bowmans -
Chris,
I haven't tried it yet but I got one of those folding ladders (300 lb capacity) from Home Depot for another project. I am thinking I can put the lower three sections straight and angle the top section over to sit on the roof.
