060515 Silver Strand

Crowded, noisy, parking-lot campsite is Silver Strand SB. But the beach is nice, as was excursion to Hotel del Coronado.

060401 Cuyamaca Rancho

Our stay at Paso Picacho Campground within Cuyamaca Rancho SP. A beautiful campground and hiking area, despite the devastating fires. Our favorite campground guidebook is by Tom Stienstra, entitled "California Camping," published by Foghorn. We still use our well worn 2001-2002 version, purchased when we bought the precursor to our Airstream - a used 1991 Westfalia.

Burned trees, aftermath of 2003 Cedar Fire. New growth below, frost covered burned branches above. Still, discovered...

060114 Taking Delivery

We bought our Airstream new from California RV Sales on New Year's Eve - a 2006 19-ft Bambi Safari SE. Took delivery in mid January after selecting our tow vehicle, 2006 Jeep Commander with 5.7 Hemi engine.

The Commander came with factory tow package, but still needed electric brake controller installed under the dash. Unfortunately, that required an unplanned trip back to the Jeep dealer to locate the connector and install the power lead for the controller.
