It started to rain our first night in Sask Landing Provincial Park. We headed out the Cypress Hills in the rain. And boy did it rain! The media called it the "billion dollar rain" since we were in a drought until that time. Our 2008 Airstream did not fare too well. We had leaks in the front window and from the skylight. The skylight had cracks where is was screwed down too tightly. We had a new one on order (for SIX weeks from our dealer) but it didn't arrive in time. "Timely fashion" and "We're leaving on X" didn't mean much to the parts manager. What a terrible shame. We had water leaking down inside the inner skin and coming out seams. Very disappointing. Will we have mould growing in there? I guess time will tell.
On the way from Sask Landing to Cypress Hills on the Trans-Canada Hwy, we spied an Airstream way off in the distance. We eventually caught up. The driver slowed down so we could pass and they could take a look at our unit. We waved like mad! Shortly afterwards, we saw an older unit coming in the opposite direction, but they didn't see us.
Once we got to Cypress Hills we met Xenon and Christine and their children. They had travelled from Saskatoon too. They were the couple we "met" on the highway. This was their first trip with their unit.
Once the rain stopped (3 days later!) --remember, it was a "billion dollar rain" -- we headed out to do some hiking and see the sights. Daisy, our Shih Tzu, didn't look so great after our walks in the rain and needed to be washed in the "lobster sink." Don't worry folks, I disinfected it! Besides, we wash our dishes camp-style (in a basin outside). Goliath, our Chessie, is like a Jeep...go anywhere, do anything...a quick wipe, and he was clean!
