Today we began replacing windows. We started with the two 18" windows that were missing glass.

After scrapping away all of the silicone caulk installed by the PO (aka Friggin PO), we cleaned the frame and seated the new glass in glazing tape (VTS 137).

We ordered an obscured pane for the lower sash and replaced the back frame cushion with Hehr Window Bulb Seal (VTS 113). The exterior face of the glass was trimmed with Hehr Clear-View Glazing Strip (VTS 196)....

Today I finished up the bed that will double as a dining room table. We cut it out of 3/4 maple plywood. At first we were anticipating using a retro laminate like boomerang or gold flake, but I think we are going to paint it and coat it in a water based polyurethane. We're using the static table leg from Vintage Trailer Supply as a support.

I found the CG of the table top by measuring to the geometric center and then adjusting it a fraction back and forth until it roughly balanced...

Here's a few pics of the custom shower pan we're installing. I bored a 1.75" hole in the subfloor at a spot that would make some sense from above, but more importantly, would make an easy connection to our new (not yet installed) gray water tank.

To make sure that the drain is the low point, I've laid-up several consecutive layers of random stranded fiberglass mat such that each layer has an interior edge that's closer to the drain than the one beneath it.

Next I'll...

Strip & Polish the Interior? Think Twice!

It's been a challenge to say the least, but we finally got the interior polished and the end caps painted (twice). My marine urethane powder blue didn't survive scrutiny; so we primed and repainted with what first looked to be an identical color. Actually, it was Benjamin Moore Jamaican Aqua and it looks amazing! I wasn't thrilled redoing the perfectly adequate, powder blue end caps, but what a difference! Totally happy with the results, and although it pains me to say it...she was right....

Wild Blue Yonder...Endcaps

Not sure the powder blue end caps will last. They didn't get a positive reaction at the unveiling, and historically, the sentiment usually diminishes from there until I'm repainting or ripping something out...we'll see.

Anyhow, we're still struggling with the interior polish. Blue buff & blend nylon filament disks ($8 Scotch Pads) are too aggressive for compounds and the purple (extra fines) aren't available locally.

I'm waiting on a blue airway wheel with a stainless...
