Interior Paint

We're finally near the phase where we're seeing permanent improvements. Its great knowing that the frame is primed and sealed, but there's just something about seeing color...and we're almost there!

We have applied the prime coats to the fiberglass end caps, the shower area, the interior of the aluminum cabinets and the Lexan skylight. These pics are before primer.

I'm gingerly negotiating the finish / topcoat color, but I'm not privy to the decision making (nor do...

Lexan Lid

We took a tip from Richard T. and replaced the hole in our roof where the Astrodome used to be with a sheet of Lexan. We used a 1/4" gray tint, precut 1/4" oversized.

I was able to sand it down to size with a palm sander and 180 grit paper. I sealed it to the roof curb with vulkem and (10) #8 SS screws.

It looks really nice and its a permanent fix since we didn't care for a replacement astrodome and the trailer will have enough vents.

We'll...

Potty Time!

Moving right along, I was able to run all rough-in potable plumbing. I used a clear braided vinyl at $0.71/ft from Amazon Hose and Rubber in Tampa along with some food grade barbed fittings. I used CPVC on the hot side of the water heater until I got about a foot away then used a threaded barb to get back to the vinyl hose.

The water heater is a 6-gallon propane-only model by Attwood. We just couldn't justify the additional cost for an insta-hot...and for $249 from PPL Motor Homes...

Fold-Out Twin Bed

Posted 03-29-2014 at 09:06 PM by JimCat2000

We decided to install this fold-out twin sized bed...not sure why, but why not I guess. We were going to have a sitting couch there anyhow; and since labor's free, I suppose my wife decided it could be useful somehow.

BTW: Notice the lower 1/2 interior panels are back in. They're tacked in with a few 1/8" rivets each for now, but at least they're not rolled up inside my garage anymore!

Cozied Up!

I just finished insulating the bottom 1/2 of the trailer. The ribs in the wall aren't uniformly spaced, and after pulling out the old insulation from the lower 1/2 and frame, I wasn't in a huge hurry to handle rolled insulation again. But isynene kits, the spray-on stuff, are about $1.33 a square foot, and only come in 200 sf (min) containers. So I went with the poor man's method and it really worked well.

I bought 4x8x3/4" sheets of R-Max foam panels and cut them to fit roughly...
