We headed 23 miles south to the Trees of Mystery at 10:30. Dogs were allowed so Elena was pleased. We had a good time seeing all the trees and taking the tram up to a lookout on top of the mountain. We left there at 1:30 and headed 5 miles up 101 to the beach where we stopped for lunch. The sun was shining bright and as a result the temperature was very comfortable. We had a nice lunch and took some scenic shots of the area before driving in to Crescent City to walk on the pier. We watched a seal bark for scraps from a pair of fishermen who were cleaning their days catch. We saw the lighthouse from a distance and drove through town to get a closer look at it. We wanted to walk to it but the tide was up and it was only accessible by boat and there was no boat. We made another grocery run and returned to the rig at 3:45. We took a nice nap and Elena made steak quesadillas for dinner. We then played a round of horsehoes (I won), lit the campfire, and rested up for tomorrow's trip through Grants Pass to Howards Prairie. Weather should warm up as we are leaving the coast and heading inland. According to my dad's log book, the airstream has traveled 40,000 miles and tonite is the 495th night of camping in it. It is the conversation piece of the campground. We plan to leave at 10AM for Oregon and hope to make the 150 mile trip in under 4 hours. Was last at Howards Prairie in 1974 and am interested to see what it looks like now.
