Vent placement for the new head

Posted 09-17-2010 at 08:18 PM by hollyhunter

We need to vent the head, but don't really want to bring it up through the whaletail. If we run it slightly forward it impedes the folding door from closing. Not sure if we can run the flexible vent hose along the floor, behind the drawers and up through the closet. Any ideas?

Fridge/Microwave Install

Posted 09-11-2010 at 05:17 AM by hollyhunter

Back to work after a great camping weekend. Little rough since we forgot a bunch of things that would have been useful, which prompts my new "packing" list. Nevertheless, I think it's important to enjoy our project a bit during the renovation process. Having given up finding an original '56 fridge, we've installed the Norcold and found a bit of space for my old microwave-yahoo. Although we will boondock most of the time, it will come in handy when we have hookup. The fridge cabinet was...

Replacing Screens

Posted 09-01-2010 at 08:13 AM by hollyhunter

We're gearing up for the holiday weekend, camping at Lake Umbagog State Park in NH. Time to deal with the screens, this has not been fun. Using a paint can opener to push the edges into the channel as the roller doesn't fit between the frame and the channel. Dan is running the new gas lines while we wait ....forever for the new water tank. New Airhead Marine toilet arrived yesterday and the fridge last week. We are going to be super busy getting Sylvia together before putting her to bed for...

Site for Sore Eyes

Posted 08-22-2010 at 07:06 PM by hollyhunter

We finally made our way over to our friend David's farm in Durham yesterday to check out possible sites for next year. 270 acres, some of it along the water sounded pretty appealing. We were pressed for time and on our way out when David said let me show you one more area over in the corn field. Magnficient, wide open meadow sloping down to the river edged with tall trees. It's a bit bumpy going through the corn field, but private and quiet. This will be our home with Sylvia next summer. I...

Inventory & Order

Posted 08-10-2010 at 08:12 AM by hollyhunter

Well we did a comprehensive inventory of parts needed to get Sylvia in shape and the logged onto Vintage Trailer Supply. Note to self that the receipt needs to go to the insurance company-Foremost as part of our agreed upon policy. Adventure RV does seem to beat out VTS on some items, like the toilet and converter. Next project is to order the fridge as I've given up on finding a vintage fridge. The fun part has been stalking ebay for curtain fabric and sofa covering.
