Missed the Fall Color

Posted 09-22-2013 at 06:28 PM by bocotim

This camping trip was planned months ago with the intention of landing during the peak of Fall color in the Colorado Rockies. It is the time of year when the crisp, fresh, Fall air heightens your senses, and the scenery is almost magical. I was looking forward to hiking through the forest with golden aspen shimmering against a brilliant blue sky above, creating dappled shadows that dance on a thick carpet of bright yellow leaves along the trail. Anyway, that's what it looked like in my head...

Camping on the high desert plateau - Lake Pueblo State Park

Posted 04-28-2013 at 06:43 PM by bocotim

I couldn't resist the first siren song of summer, with an appealing forecast of bright skies and warm weekend temperatures. So, I packed up the camper and headed to Lake Pueblo State Park (LPSP) in south-central Colorado, one of my favorite camping and mountain biking destinations. More photos/Blog here.

A Short Trip in a Short Trailer to Jackson Lake State Park, CO

Posted 04-07-2013 at 09:40 PM by bocotim

An "iffy" weather forecast and destination uncertainties delayed the launch of this weekend's camping trip. So at noon on Saturday, I threw a few items in an overnight bag and grabbed what was handy in the refrigerator for a hastily planned solo trip to the Northeast Plains of Colorado to Jackson Lake State Park. More Photos/Blog.

Stillwater Campground at Lake Granby, CO

Posted 07-17-2012 at 09:17 PM by bocotim

You know it has been too hot and dry when rain is a welcomed guest on a camping trip. Like much of the nation, Colorado is in the midst of an unusually dry and hot season, and any precipitation is appreciated, even if it occurs in the middle of a hike. Although mostly a sunny and pleasant weekend, we experienced downpours and a lightning storm that cut short our leisurely hike and turned it into an all out sprint to the car for cover. Posted 05-21-2012 at 08:38 PM by bocotim

It is easy to overuse adjectives when describing the Colorado National Monument: Amazing, Dramatic, Beautiful, Stunning, Serene, Soulful, Sacred. This unique place is a treat for the eyes and nourishment to the soul. More photos here.
