The Burrito is the name given to our recently purchased (Oct 09') Airstream. It is a 1977 31' Sovereign International. We are huge fans of Chipotle and as such we immediately noticed the resemblance of the trailer to the icon of the Chipotle chain and so she became to be know as The Burrito. The blog will document the restoration of our beloved trailer.

    Deconstruction Week Two

I have just bought a Wally bynum original 1957overlander 26ft and have discovered that it has asbestos subflooring, does this need to be removed before I can replace the subfloor?

    Deconstruction - Weekend One (10-19-2009)

Your situation sounds very much like ours back in March 2009. We got ours home by way of my father. When I hooked up my new-to-me TV (Ford F250), the wiring was not right and found out the trailer umbilical was the cause and I had to switch 2 wires so the brake lights on the trailer weren't on all the time. We gutted ours from the rear to the front as well... not really sure why. The only excuse I have is the PO had made our rear (1979 Sovereign) into a california king sized bed and we knew the floor underneath wasn't in the greatest shape so wanted to uncover and check it out. And yeah, a california king sized mattress is tight but will fit the rear end. Removing it was not fun though. Rachet straps folding it in half and ALOT of sweat to get it from the back to the door. We plan on putting a queen or possibly 2 twins side by side back in. Our walls were grimy... actually everything in the trailer had a layer of sticky even under the shelves (shuddering recalling the deconstruction/cleaning phase on ours). Took us about 3 cleanings with the POR15 marine clean on the walls before we were satisfied. We tried a number of cleaners but that stuff seemed to us to be the best, although odorous.

Keep the entries coming. They are great to read!
