Unfortunately, it will probably require having a custom pan made. Unless, you are lucky enough to find one from some one else's trailer that is both available & in good shape! I guess you can always dream...right?!

Why do you need one? Is yours damaged or ???

That's not a pan, its a dump site. Pardon the pun but the new one is so much better in form and function. I can't wait to see Birdie in person (you guys too).

Springtime in Colorado continues, unabated. What you don't see is the heavy snow falling...

But the paper was in the curbside paper tube this morning! Love Colorado people. Shari, how is the trudging out to Birdie going? I've still got a major section of floor to put in, which requires significant trudging back and forth.

I guess I'll just go in the shop today and cut Richard's A/C braces. Oh, happy day.

Thanks for making the braces for my AC which will be installed next week at the Rally.
The weather here is much different then where you are. It is warming up fast in Phoenix. It should be 83 today and in the high 90's by the time I leave for the rally later in the week.

Yeah, it's a big sloppy mess...heavy, wet & cold - the plants will love it, Birdy...not so much! We're kinda looking at it as a "scheduled leak check". Looks like you got a lot more snow than we did - ours was a mix of snow/rain - but we do have about 10" on the ground.

Most of our work for today is inside the trailer...installing the toilet, sink, kitchen cabinets and the water heater - no "hook-up" of the plumbing yet - that would require crawling under the trailer - and that's not happening But, we are starting to set some things in place that look like progress ~

It's a balmy 36...time to get at it!

So it's been a couple of weeks since I've updated this thread...we made some progress on our bathroom prior to the Four Corners Unit Restoration Rally. We installed the toilet and the stainless steel wall panels. The things left to do are installing the sink, hooking up the water & the dump valve outside. But so far, so good...we hope to make some more progress this weekend.

I created a movie for the FCU Restoration Rally and several people have asked me to post a link so they could see it again...here it is:

It's about 11 minutes long and I think you will need Quick Time to view it...enjoy!
(HOPE THIS WORKS...)

Great video - thanks for posting it. I've got a couple of laggard buddies I've copied the URL to. They need to get their butts in gear if they are going to be Airstreaming this year.

You're not talking about me, but I feel the inspiration regardless. In order to be camping 2 weeks from now, I've got to step on the gas for my restoration!

Thanks for posting the video Shari, it was great!

Those of us who attended the 4CU restoration rally last week had the opportunity to see the great work being done on Birdie by Shari and Rob. Birdie is lacking many items at the present time, but that did not stop them from bringing her to the rally. It was great seeing you both in Albuquerque and I look forward to seeing you both again in October.

Yeah, like every comfort item! No water - except a gallon jug, no electric - except the 30 ft extension cord and no heat - except the down comforter But we had a great time none the less ~

Hopefully you'll see some improvements by then! Like the interior looking like a real Airstream instead of a "love grotto" ~

Oh well, we were in good company...several others at the rally were in similar "roughing it" situations.

So, since my last posting in this thread, we have taken Birdy out on two more "roughing it" outings. We also got the plumbing complete, started on the gas appliances - both the stove & Humphrey Lamp are installed - and got a good start on installing the dinette. It's been a busy month ~

We used 24 various Shark Bite fittings. We LOVE them! None of the sweat soldered fittings or SB connections leaked "first try" putting water in the system....almost all the other threaded fittings did! After lots of trouble-shooting, we got the water system leak free.

Is that the plumbing vent I see at the top of this photo going into the outer wall?
If so, did you just route a rubber tube between the skins up to that little eyebrow vent you posted earlier? If so, how did you terminate the vent pipe under the eyebrow? is there a 90 degree fitting there? Is it sealed to the outer skin somehow to prevent leaks? Any closeup photos of that area?

I,m guessing that it is the fresh water fill line.

Actually, if you look back thru the photos in this thread, the fresh water fill can be seen behind the axle in one of them. This is because the water tank on '56 Safari's, like Shari's, is under the streetside bed at the rear of the trailer. I believe the photo I am questioning is under the front dinette bench (which incidentally IS the location of the water tank in '54 & '55 Safari's like mine). There is no tank under the dinette in this photo, but the pipe going thru the floor is to one of the "below the floor" gray water tanks Shari and Rob added to their Safari. I can think of no reason other than the plumbing vent for a pipe going into the wall under the dinette. I may be wrong, but I don't think so. I am just looking for confirmation.

I am asking mainly because I will be adding Black and Gray tanks to my '55 Safari during it's restoration. It currently has no plumbking vent, so I will have to add one and routing it inside the outer wall would be a good way to keep it "invisible".
