We are in the middle of an extended beautiful Indian Summer spell of weather. though I'd trade it for a week of long soaky steady rain to restore ground moisture before a drying winter and to refill our pond. Having abused our flimsy plastic snow shovels spreading compost lately, I decided to restock today when I was at the local hardware store. When I asked if he had snow shovels in stock yet, the clerk looked at me funny and asked if I knew somethng he didn't know! He said with global warming on everybody's minds, no one was asking for snow shovels, that I was the year's first. I just chuckled to myself, remembering last year's early December 18 incher that took everyone by surprise. I walked out with my coal scoop (heavy duty scooper) and a lighter metal snow shovel, thinking that if they hang in the barn all winter, okay, but if I need them, I got 'em! Here's to weather, may we all get what we ask for! ~G

I live in the Pacific North West.
It did not rain today.
Well, okay, it did not rain all day today, but it did rain a bit of the day, but when it's just a little bit and then the sun comes out, and then it rains for a little bit, and then the sun comes out - you are getting the drift of this thing.
Is that global warming?
I too have picked up my snow shovel for the winter. I still have the one I brought with me from the prairies 19 years ago and it is starting to show it's age. So, with new ones on sale for elcheapo since we've not had signs of snow I thought I would partake of one to hang beside the oldie.
I figure if we have the tools the weather will cooperate and it won't snow this winter. It's like buying a convertible and then it rains all summer. Or a ski-doo and then it never snows.
