Description: TAHI is located about an hour south-east of Lufkin, Texas on the shores of Lake Sam Rayburn. Make no mistake, TAHI is really remote and even the nearest service station is miles away. Lufkin is the nearest major shopping.

TAHI interior roads are paved, but deteriorating. Many sites have metal "villas", some sites are simply hookups. There are a number of transient parking spots, mostly on grass, but with full hookups. Transient sites are $10 per night. There is a code gate that is closed at night. They have an excellent clubhouse facility and a laundry. There are frequent and very good community meals.

Except for the lake, there are very limited things to do around TAHI.

Pros: Isolated, right on the lake, mild winter weather. EXTREMELY cost effective lifestyle.
Cons: Isolated, screwed if you don't like birding, fishing, or just being alone. Hot as hell in the summer.

Pleasantly isolated on its own peninsula on Sam Rayburn Reservoir, the largest lake totally within the Great State of Texas, TAHI hosts the WBCCI Texas Gulf Coast Unit 103 rallies. Since becoming operational in 1974, the lakeside Airstream only park has provided excellent wintering grounds for both locals and transients alike. Easily accessed via Beaumont, Houston, or Lufkin, Texas, the park is located only a short drive east from the famous Toledo Bend Reservoir, possibly the premier U.S. Bass Lake on the Texas/Louisiana border. TAHI ownership and yearly assessments are possibly the most reasonably priced of all Airstream only facilities. You will find a generous cross section of Airstream owner population, and the ever-changing demographics ensures you will always find someone to share whatever it is you may want to do.

Pros: Quiet, Isolated, Lakeside, fishing, cost effective, people
Cons: Isolated, Summer heat

Dennis hits it right on the head. TAHI is VERY out of the way, but well worth the trip. You will get to know and like everyone in very short order. Very cost effective. There are convenience stores, a few restaurants, and a small grocery in Zavalla (3 miles). Major grocery and hardware in Huntington (12 miles) anything more and you have to go to Lufkin (23 miles). Not much for kids to do unless they like fishing and nature. FYI: Angelina County is a DRY county!
