Description: Located 9 miles south of I-10, this charming campground offers 62 camping sites with electric hook-ups and water. Dump station, restrooms, showers, and toilets are conveniently located. Easy walk to Discovery Center and cavern tours.
Hiking and Walking trails offer a look at local wildlife. We have encountered deer, peccary, and a Western Diamondback rattlesnake. Keep you dogs on lead and on the trail to keep them from being bitten.
Elevation: 4,600 feet
Cave Information
Kept secret since its discovery in 1974, Kartchner Caverns, was announced to the world in 1988. Still virtually pristine, this massive limestone cave has 13,000 feet of passages and two rooms as long as football fields. Finally opened as a state park November 12, 1999, this underground wilderness will remain protected while offering visitors a rare tour through multi-colored cave formations. The temperature inside the caverns averages 68?F year round, with the humidity at 99%.
All tours are guided by a trained tour guide. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling: (520)586-CAVE. The cave averages 68?F and 98% humidity year round. All cave trails are barrier-free. Due to wet surfaces and changes in grades, strollers and walkers are not allowed on the tours.

Pros: Beautiful setting in the Sonoran Desert. Quiet and relaxing. Breath taking night skies with zero light pollution.
Cons: Not the place for those who expect a swimming pool and and shuffleboard courts.

A place we keep going back to even though we haven't been back to the caverns themselves.
