Pros: Very clean and tidy. Great welcome center.
Cons: A little off the beaten track--not far from the Smokies. Reservations not possible.

This is a hidden gem! We camped here in May 2005, brand new bathrooms and showers. The rangers keep the place clean and are very friendly and helpful. The campsites have some privacy and worked fine for our 28' trailer. Great trail maintenance. While hiking near some small waterfalls we met a truck with rangers who told us that the area is becoming naturalized since the highway was taken out (so the historic Cumberland Gap trail the pioneers took is available for hikers). The tunnel makes it super convenient to get around. The Welcome Center has lots of information about activities and a nice trail behind it for pets and people. The town of Cumberland Gap, Tn is full of little antique stores and shops. We will camp here again.First come first served policy on campsites.

Pros: Clean, Rangers are helpful and several progams
Cons: some sites are not level

One of the newer National Parks, the Welcome Station was nice and they have several program that are free and others that are reasonably priced. You are in and out of TN,KY and VA all during the day. Lots of things to see and do in the area. Our cost was $8.50 per night
