Description: Carpinteria State Beach is a great winter getaway. It is extremely crowded in the summer due to it's close proximity to the LA area. The campground has several options from dry camping to full hookups. The dry camping is more spread out and the hookup sites are packed together like sardines.

The Santa Rosa loop, which is the focus of this review, has full hookups and is right on the beach. The interior sites are for trailers up to 30' and the beachfront sites are for trailers up to 24'. At both sites there is barely enough room to park the trailer and truck together, and still open the trailer door, so if you have a slideout or want to use your awning, forget it. There is tow vehicle parking available within a short walk so we usually park our truck there. We have stayed in the 24' beachfront sites with our 28' but it is very tight, but being right on the beach is awesome! The campground has been recently been redone so the new sites are at 45 degree angles to the road to make for easier backing. Because of this, we are no longer permitted to camp beachfront as our trailer is over 24'.

The campground is adjacent to the quaint town of Carpinteria, so bring your bike to cruise around. Day trips to both Santa Barbara and Ventura are also in order. But best of all, relax on the beautiful beach.

Pros: Beachfront, Close to town
Cons: Crowded, Expensive

Now it's 80 bucks for a beachfront campsite
