Description:

The main draw for this park is the ecosystem. The park is home to several swampy areas and there are several boardwalks allowing visitors to hike through the swamps without disturbing them.
There is a visitors center that is worth seeing. There are some interesting displays and information that help you learn about the park.
The actual camping area of Tickfaw State park is level and many sites have a wooden deck to the side. The park had electrical and water connections. There was a dump station located near the entrance to the camping area.
You will see several different type of swamps at this park and you may also see an alligator or two in the lakes.
This park is deep in Cajun country, so you may notice that some campers and cooking some incredible foods. We were invited to drop by and sample some authentic cajun cooking at several camp sites. If you visit Tickfaw State Park and receive similar invitations to a cajun dinner, don't hesitate--accept! You will be amazed at how good cajun food is when camping.
