Description:

This small park has a fantastic view of Mt. Adams reflected in the lake. Numerous hiking trails take you through forested areas, a meadow full of hummingbirds, and volcanic rock. July is mosquito season, but we understand it calms down a bit later in the summer (bring bug repellant just in case!). No hookups, but water is available in the park, as are pit toilets. Note - the roads to this campground can be a bit tricky (potholes and washboard) - allow plenty of time for travel.

I agree, fantastic view, but 'mosquito season' doesn't really do it justice. We tent camped there in late August one year and the biting flys, no-see-ums, and mosquitos were so thick we hightailed it out the next morning as soon as it was light enough to chuck our gear in the van and get out of there. Stunning views and great hiking though. Bring a boat if you want to paddle around the lake. And a lot of DEET.
