Description:
|
Run by the Lower Colorado River Authority, this is a fairly new park overlooking Lake Buchanan. There are about 2 dozen, nice-long, RV sites, but levelling blocks are a must. All are full hookup, but the sewer openings are not always well placed.
There are cabins, a recreation hall, and a restaurant that serves reasonable priced breakfasts and moderately pricy dinners. There is also live music on the patio and star gazing through a 16" telescope some nights. There are about 12 miles of well-maintained trails. Some trails may be seasonally closed due to the nesting of endangered species (Golden Cheek Warbler, Bald Eagle, etc.).
The Vanishing Texas river boat leaves from the park. Eagle spotting cruises in season, dinner cruises, and vinyard cruises are available.
This park is having some teething problems, but the staff is friendly and the surroundings are beautiful.
