Description: Lost Maples is my favorite Texas State Park. There are about 30 nicely landscaped water-electric sites and a dump station. Each site has a picnic table in a shade shelter.

The park is very crowded during the color change in the fall; the rest of the time, it is fairly empty. There are miles of fairly rugged hiking trails and a creek to fish and swim in. The park is at fairly high altitude and is always cooler than most of central Texas.

The countryside, both east and west of the park, is rugged and scenic. The much larger Garner State Park is about 15 miles west and offers additional opportunities to hike, fish, and swim
