Description: Conchas Lake State Park offers a wide variety
of water sport activities including boating,
fishing and water-skiing at this refreshing,
25-mile long reservoir.

Explore
One of the state's largest lakes includes 60 miles of varied shoreline, secluded coves, canyons, and sandy beaches. Ancient rock formations date back to the Age of Dinosaurs. Observant visitors may discover the fossils of ancient sea creatures.

With its ample camping and picnicking facilities, boat ramps, marina, bait and tackle supplies, food services, and playgrounds, Conchas offers visitors much.

Pros: Spacious, well maintained sites with water and 30 amp electric. Each site has a picnic table protected by a permanent masonry shelter. Easy walk to swimming access. Plenty of places to ride your bicycles.
Cons: You must hunt to find good swimming spots since they aren't designated in any way. Park workers and camp host could not direct us to a swimming area, so we found our own. Once discovered, it was a lovely spot to swim and bask in the sun on huge slabs of

<P>Another wonderful New Mexico State Park.&nbsp; This one is located about 24 miles north of I-40 Exit 300 (Newkirk).&nbsp;We arrived during the week before the Labor Day weekend and discovered that we had Bell Point Campground to ourselves.</P>
<P>&nbsp;</P>
<P>Ice and some groceries are available at a tiny store at the marina.</P>
