Description: Cherokee Land Yacht Harbor is near the north end of Tenkiller Lake in north-eastern Oklahoma.

The park has paved roads winding among numerous trees and up and down hills. The roads are fairly narrow, but in fair condition. Most lots have buildings of some sort, ranging from old mobile homes to some quite nice houses. The overall look, however, is just a bit run down.

There are four (4) permanent transient sites, but they will find a site where the owner is on the road if the four sites overflow.

The big attraction here is the lake. It is not as remote as TAHI in east Texas and there are plenty of restaurants and other entertainment within an easy drive. Major shopping, however, would be in Muscogee, about 40 minutes away.

These are super friendly folks. If the park was nearer home, I would be tempted to lease a site.

Pros: The friendliness of the people, the beauty of the surrounding area and lake.
Cons: The park has deteriorated a little over the past decade.

My first time to this park was in 1963. I helped run the original water lines, build the recreation hall and many other things. The park was thriving for many, many years. My mother-in-law still has a place there, it is for sale if anyone is interested in the area.

Over the past decade the rules requiring you to own an Airstream in order to own property in the park have been relaxed to the point that it is no longer required. Instead you can pay a little more and still move into the park.

It is still a beautiful area and Tenkiller is easily the best lake in Oklahoma. Great location.
