Love the people, places, and things surrounding Pennwood. Lots to see and do during the day, and a friendly campfire or happy hour to be found almost every night when we got back.

We stayed a week at Penn Wood in August 2009. Our first experience with an Airstream only park and we didn't know what to expect.
Could not have had a better experience, a warm welcome by hosts Dave & Lori, lots of other great folks, and a "state park like" setting.
We'll be back for sure!

This park used to be a nice overnight stop but over the past couple of years it has become rundown and dirty. Last time I visited was Oct. 2008. About half of the electric sites had a out of order bag over the outlets. The rest room and shower area was filithy and almost everything in them was broken or cracked. During the day the locals actually herded a flock of sheep thru the campground.
At night, about 3am someone tried my door. That was it for me, never again.

I am looking to get the best of the best in for a 3 day trip from Phoenix to the grand canyon tours. I am trying to treat my Michigan born boyfriend to some great parts of Arizona in this short time.
What are the best lookout points at the Grand Canyon easily accessible by car or *short* hike? For daytime? For sunset?
What are the best restaurants (and ones to avoid) in the Grand Canyon village?

Thank you for this complete review of Big Meadows. I found the review very helpful. We are planning a trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway in early October. Are there other campgrounds in this area/along the Parkway that you would recommend? Thank you!

We stayed at this some 10 years prior with our 31' and 3 young children, we went back over the July 4th weekend and found it to be as nice and friendly as it ever was. Our 34' was easy to park and we felt at home with the BBQ and fireworks. Can't beat the price and how clean and quite.
