Sunshade For AS

| Description |
We just had this U.V. sunshade put up to help shade our AS. There will be a side panel put into place on the door side of AS where the sun hits in the heat of the day (the other side is shaded). We will be able to roll that panel up when need be. That should be installed within the next week. Our main goal was to help shade where the sun hits in the heat of the day, especially on roof. It has a 10 year warranty and can hold up to strong winds. Only two vertical posts were used on one side, along with the horizontal posts across the top. |

Glacier Smart Tow
|
| Description |
The utility trailer was finally delivered and the first real tow with the Smart Car behind our Interstate was last week from Seattle to Montana's Glacier National Park. Stress free tow (16.8 average mpg) and equally stress free drive up the Going-to-the-sun-road in the Smart. Easy to maneuver the Smart around the park to some out-of-the-way places as well as congested areas, especially this time of year. The package fit nicely in a C-loop pull through, with plenty of room to spare as well as on the street during an overnight visit with friends in Missoula. Easily backed into Washington State campground sites twice during transit to and from Glacier, so it wasn't necessary to unload the Smart to park overnight. |

Rear Floor In Place! (finally)

| Description |
The rear floor is now in place, bolted down, and as not yet shown in the picture, all the cutouts for the tanks are done. Anyone contemplating this project should know... everything takes 10 times longer than you anticipate. Especially if you are working alone. |

Link Creek USFS CG, Suttle Lake, OR

9/26-27/2014, 62 degrees, Site 010. A short trip up US97 to Bend and then west on US20 to Suttle Lake. Lots of good times tent camping and fishing this lake in the late '70's, good to return after so long, especially in an Airstream. We're on the opposite (west) end of the lake from the Suttle Lake Resort. Arrived to find that my site reservation skills on Recreation.Gov were terrible: no way would we fit. Looked around and then talked to the Camp Host who kindly pointed us to this primo site right on the lake. Poor solar gain, but who cares? The generator worked great. A few folks dropped by to check out the A/S, and got to talk with them about owning one and the 4CU - always a pleasure. |

Oprah's Favorite Grilled Cheese

I love to cook in my Airstream kitchen. I especially enjoy it when it's rather warmer than usual here in Seattle because our home doesn't have A/C -- but guess what? Our Airstream does :) I'd like to share this recipe -- its my favorite grilled cheese that I learned about when watching the Oprah show one year a while ago. It is basically taking a good crusty bread (whatever your favorite is) and placing sliced tomatoes, chopped basil and slices of havarti cheese (important) cheese and then drizzling honey over all of that. Butter both sides of your bread and grill up like you would any grilled cheese. I hope you like it -- and I would like to thank Oprah for turning me on to this !!! Like my dad always said before every meal (even a cereal breakfast) Bon Appetit !! |

Lyman Lake State Park, St Johns, AZ

9/17/2013, 82 degrees. Site lym-14, view of the site and shelter. Really enjoyed the friendly folks at this park - especially at the end of the season. Launched off for the Valley of Fires/White Sands Rally via US60. A beautiful drive thru high grasslands and forest over the continental divide with little traffic. Stopped off at the Buckhorn in San Antonio (NM) for a green chile cheeseburger, and onward to Carrizozo..... |
