New Wheels And Tires.
New Wheels And Tires.
Description Brand new Sendel 15" wheels with Goodyear Endurance tires. I debated over going to 16's with Michelins. I have the same Michelin's people are using in 16" on my van, and after measuring, the clearance for the wheel wells was going to be too close. Old Sovereigns are pretty light, and 15" with load range E tires should be sufficient.

Custom Ceiling Fixture
Custom Ceiling Fixture
Description I got ambitious one day and fabricated a ceiling light in the bedroom area to mimic the shape and look of the windows. I cannibalized the old ceiling light for the sockets and switch. I used all scrap aluminum I had lying around to build it, and the only expense (other than my $5.00 per hour labor) was the 1/8" frosted acrylic... oh, and the LED bulbs. I like the way it turned out. It has the 3 setting switch and I added a few bulbs. I wanted a bright setting in the bedroom, so I can make sure I am wearing the same colored socks. :P

Description Another view of the bed without the top platform. The bulkhead standing to the left gets laminated next. Very happy with the way the aluminum panels turned out.

Platform Bed Configuration
Platform Bed Configuration
Description I love rounded corners. Built here to accommodate a full size bed. The top platform is not on in this picture, but overhangs the front by about 8 inches. I used high gloss laminates and I wanted air/heat to get under to the tanks so I fabricated the front 4 panels with cool aluminum screening. The main purpose was to lighten the weight of the plywood with the cutouts, but serves as ventilation as well. Under the platform will be hanging bins in the grid for additional storage. The entire support grid can be easily unscrewed in the event I ever have to remove the tank. I have the platform done as well, but not shown here installed. IKEA 4-3/4" mattress which I have to go on top. Lightweight and comfortable, as I have slept on it many times.

Platform Bed... With Added Gray Water Tank
Description Too hot in Tampa to work outside, and the big stuff is already done, so I thought I would do some fun stuff inside. A few months ago I installed a 50 Gallon gray tank I picked up at a sale. It is plumbed between the kitchen sink and the original gray tank. I put a Valterra valve on the tank so I can keep the two tanks separate. When ready to dump, I drain the main tank, then the aux. tank. I also have it configured to I can pump the original tank back up in to the large tank for added showering boondocking capacity. Today I got around to building the platform bed around it.

Critter Prevention - Well, Sort Of..
Critter Prevention - Well, Sort Of..
Description The cutouts for the plumbing, tanks, valves, etc, were allowing critters in to the body of the trailer or at least a good place for them to hide. So, I made gaskets out of shower pan liner (very tough stuff and lasts nearly forever) and fitted them around the valves and such to create a seal from the tank areas below. I cut 1/2" vinyl strips from some old horizontal blinds and screwed them down to hold the gaskets in place. I can easily remove them if necessary. It worked out pretty well. It won't stop chewing critters, but lizards and bugs aren't getting through!

Description Finally found some time to work on it. In the last few weeks I got on all the lower belt molding, fabricated some covers where the A-frame enters the body, sealed and caulked all the belt moldings, and painted most of the lower wrap. I ran out of paint and it was threatening rain. Soon.

New Atwood 6 Gallon Gas/electric Water Heater
New Atwood 6 Gallon Gas/electric Water Heater
Description Pretty easy installation to get it in the hole. It isn't hooked up yet. Still have a ways to go to be ready for that. I bought it off Amazon for a good price, but wasn't really happy with the shipping condition. Flanges were all bent when it arrived because it was just slipped in to a flimsy cardboard box. No padding whatsoever. The exhaust sheet metal was all twisted, but not from the shipping. From the manufacturing. I had to bend all that back in to shape to get the stainless door I had to fit properly. Still, not too difficult. Nothing EVER goes easy when rebuilding an Airstream.... Now I can put the lower wrap moldings on. Slowly but surely!
