Black tank Removal Begins here...
|
Description |
Well, actually we have already removed the back half of the belly pan. The galvanized box that holds the tank has completely disintegrated, here you see the front of it between you and the red tank. The rest was dust. Note the lovely styrofoam is still in pretty good shape! |

Removed the Black Tank At Last!
|
Description |
Here it is, in all it's glory. Notice a section of vent pipe as well as the flange are still attached. Getting it out like this wasn't easy, and required we cut the hole in the floor a bit larger with a jigsaw to get the assembly out. We plan to put some new flooring in anyway, and that was easier than getting the flange off. Like the two-tone colors of grey and red! |

Wow, a Red Black Tank!
|
Description |
So, is this an original or a replacement? Seems to be exactly the correct shape, but I never heard of the Black Tanks being red. It's not in quite as good of shape as it looks - check the next few images. I wonder, is this ABS plastic? |

Rusty Toilet Flange on Black Tank
|
Description |
Wow, this little bugger really does not wish to be separated from his Black Tank. If we are able to patch the tank, we are hoping to clean this flange up and re-use it as is. |

Dump Valve Mount on Black Tank
|
Description |
I assume that is what you call this mount...notice that time and wear have destroyed two of the mounting collars. Looks like a new gasket is in order as well. |

Black Tank Crack at Dump Connection
|
Description |
Here we see our somewhat battered Black Tank outlet with a hairline crack at about 4 o'clock running downward from the joint. I wonder, is the grey material Scotchweld Epoxy? It seems very strong. |

Black Tank Flange Crack
|
Description |
Here's the second crack that we have in our Black Tank - where the flange meets the tank. Notice we had to leave the flange on as it refuses to come off. |

Black Tank Hole #1
|
Description |
I really wanted everyone to see this. Imagine my surprise when we finally got the black tank out, and what do we see but a large patch with the words "drill hole" and an arrow pointing right to it. One wonders, did the person mean to indicate that this was the proper location in which to drill a hole? Or, were they simply pointing out the fact that a hole had been drilled in such an odd place? Either way, why is someone drilling into my Black Tank?!!?!!!! The patch seems good...hmm. But there is only a hint at what is to come, see the next photos. |

Black Tank Hole #2
|
Description |
Here's the second hole in our Black Tank, this one has not been patched. This was drilled by a PO when installing a new electric line. Lucky us. |
