Axles Done! Shocks Done!
|
Description |
Another 3000 hours and about $6K and I will be close to getting this beast done!
Shocks in place showing the clearance to the frame. I'm happy with the spacing. |

Shocks Mounted
|
Description |
After much aggravation (mostly self induced) I managed to get the shocks secured and in place. There is about a 1/2" clearance between the shock mount bolt and the frame, and with the bolt on lower shock mounts I bought at Napa, the shock is pretty close to parallel to the frame. Something I was stressing over earlier on. |

The Axles Have Landed!
|
Description |
After much preparation, I managed to install my 2 new axles. It took about 4-5 hours doing it by myself. Thanks to 2 scissor jacks and 2 small furniture dollies from Harbor Freight, it was a piece of cake. A strenuous piece of cake. The shocks are in the mail, and I am assured they can be installed after the fact. Unlike my previous axle installation on my Overlander years ago, the shocks had to be attached to the axle before being lifted in to place. |

Painted Frame... Finally
|
Description |
Another view of the "shell on" restoration of my frame. Aside from the crawling around, not too bad.

Painted Frame... Finally
|
Description |
Frame painted with rubberized spray paint from A-frame to rear section where waste tanks go. That section is next!
The frame was for the most part still black from the original paint job. The spray paint was just added protection. |

Jack Removed.
|
Description |
Flange is too large. Has anyone removed this to allow a standard 2.25" jack to slide in?
I whacked it pretty good with a large hammer, and it ain't movin. PB Blaster as well. Don't see any welds. I could probably cut it out. |

Axles Removed
|
Description |
I checked, and they still have 15 degrees of angle. Should I clean them up, put on new brakes and use them? Hmmmm. |
