Wall warmer
|
Description |
This wraps around the bed all the way back to the shower wall. It keeps us from rolling over into cold aluminum at night. Twin units have something similar on both sides.
The original had gotten pretty nasty so I installed a very heavy pile carpet used in limos. The compound curve of the wall made fitting a bit of a challenge. I made a cardboard pattern first.
It is removable for cleaning. |

New Bath sink
|
Description |
The original oval plastic sink was so small and shallow it would not allow me to get my hands under the running water. This is a standard stainless bar sink with Moen single control faucet.
It was a VERY tight fit. I had to trim part of the counter frame to get clearance. But it is so much more usable, and consumes no more counter space than the original. |

Safe Harbor
|
Description |
Four inches of snow, but the coach is out of the weather.
It is sure great to finally have a place to park. Water, sewer, and 30 amp service are all installed as well. |

Front end cap
|
Description |
The infamous abs plastic end cap, restored.
It had yellowed and split in several places. I patched it from the back side, filled with a paste made from abs shavings and abs plumbing cement, primed with spray plastic primer, and painted with a textured spray paint.
It may actually look better than new. |

"Full" Corner Bed
|
Description |
From 1985 to the mid 90's Airstream offered a side bath, corner bed floorplan. This allows a sizable credenza and an extra wardrobe.
Originally there was a narrow credenza across the back wall as well. Ours was removed to gain legroom and to facilitate making the bed.
Yes, we do sleep the "wrong" way 'round. This gives our torsos the widest portion of the bed, and if we want to really stretch out our toes can hang out over the edge, not our head. |

Our tug
|
Description |
2004 Chevrolet K2500 4X4 4-door diesel. This is where our coach "lives". As you can see, it is a barn lot. Although quite level, it is amazing how often it takes four wheel drive to get it going. |

Bedroom Cabinet
|
Description |
This is a fairly uncommon floorplan, but we have come to really like it.
The original cabinet was a set of four rather small plastic bins behind a tambour door. There was also a walled off area in the corner that was just empty space. I built a set of four larger, deeper drawers, plus a cubyhole at the back accessed through a door. The blanked off area below is outside storage.
Possibly the best part of this cabinet is that it is not as deep as the factory unit, which gives us more room to stand on the floor. |

Kitchen2
|
Description |
Kichen2 shows the space for the 1.2 cu. foot microwave. A convection oven would be nice, but I could not spring for the extra $300. Below that is a 18" X 16" drawer. This about tripled our kitchen drawer space. Just below that is, of course, the cover for the furnace |
