Keep in mind that your looking for at least a 1 inch bend in the bars.

You never did say whose hitch you have, so I assumed Reese from your description....

Measure the width of the bar, as it goes into the trunnion.

1" = 550 #
1 1/8" = 750 #
1 1/4" = 1000 #

You should be using 550 bars. 750 is ok, IFthey bend at least 1 inch,...
