understanding axles
I just wrote a new post on my blog, as I try to better understand axles (and why I just replaced mine!). I thought others might find it useful, though there is plenty of other axle information on...

it's happening
The old axle has been removed, and the new one is on.
The photo of the new axle below was just before the new one was welded to the frame. The guys at my shop said it would be too hard to modify...

Axles welded or bolted on?
I am replacing my axle on my 1962 Safari.
The axle I had was welded on. Is this common for this vintage? I thought they were typically bolted.
The old one was cut off today after a lot of work...
