One More Thing

One more thing. There is some construction on NM 68 out of Espanola, but it should not be a problem, as traffic is generally light.

SF to Taos

As others suggest, check on the fires before starting out. Taos News carried a "be prepared to evacuate" message to residents in the Sipapu area last night. Area is close to where you will be...

Recommend you consider the Land Rover Discovery with the td6 diesel engine. I've been towing a 27' Safari with it, and love it. Will certainly handle the smaller AS with ease.

One more thing....

The owners manual for my Discovery recommends against using a weight distribution hitch. I suspect yours does, also. Both my dealer (indirectly and discretely) and CanAm recommended otherwise. I...

Good Choice!

For the last year, our tow vehicle for our 27' FC FB has been a 2018 Land Rover Discovery HSE diesel, and it has been entirely satisfactory. The tow data for your Range Rover and the Discovery are...

I second the motion for Medora and the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, both sections. We were there in theFall, after the tourists had left, and the foliage was spectacular along the Little...

Discovery Td6

Well, the verdict is in! We did a 300 mile, six-night shakedown last week, and the Discovery is all we had hoped for. Plenty of power, and with the 8-speed transmission (versus the 6-speed in the...

Discovery

We are all in the same boat. I loved my 2008 and 2012 MB 350 diesel GLs, but the last one was getting long of tooth, so I bought a 2018 Discovery HSE Luxury with the Td6 engine. No experience yet,...

I live and hunt quail with my Brittanys in New Mexico, which is definitely rattlesnake country. I've always kept the dogs' snake bite vaccinations up to date, but, thankfully, never have needed to...

We've had both a 25 and now a 27, both with twin beds, like you want. In the 25, the bed buts right up to the bulkhead, making it more difficult to make up. The 27 gives you some extra room at the...

No Problem

We did this road a couple of years ago, towing a 25' Safari with a 2012 Mercedes 350 GL (diesel) and had absolutely no problems. Echo the recommendation to spend a couple of days at the Buffalo Bill...

I 80 Camping

We have stopped several times at the KOA on the east side of Cheyenne, and always found it to be very satisfactory.

While in Nebraska, east of Ogallala, is the small town of Paxton. If passing...

Land Rover Discovery Td6

Anyone out there towing a mid-sized Airstream (27') with a newer Discovery with the Turbo Diesel engine? I'm currently towing with a Mercedes GL Bluetec diesel, which is wonderful, but Mercedes...

Agree with the majority who recommend touring Oak Creek Canyon without the trailer. We are regular visitors to Sedona in April, and have done the 179, I-17 route many times. It's very scenic in its...

Best Dealer

I can't say "best," because I haven't dealt with anyone else, but I can highly recommend Holiday Travel Trailer, now Airstream of New Mexico, in Albuquerque. Since you are so close right now in...

We enjoyed our 2004 25' FB Twin Bed Safari very much for seven years, and now have upgraded to a 2013 27' Flying Cloud, again with the twin bed arrangement. I have to agree with those who say the...

Diesel is the answer, no matter what the question about tow vehicles. Among SUVs, try the Mercedes GL (or ML, for a 23') or Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I couldn't agree more. Our 2012 Mercedes 350 GL Bluetec is perfect for towing our 1904 25' Safari. It should handle the lighter trailer with ease.
