How about rotating each of the seat cushions around (180 deg's) so that the "humps" are at the outside walls. Or switch the two seat cushions with out rotating, that would accomplish the same thing.

I removed the same piece of floor on my '65. You are going to have to remove the lower piece of inner aluminum skin. That will allow you to access the bolts that connect the C-channel to the plywood....
